Ms. Childress is the managing attorney and founder of the Childress Firm PLLC, an employment law firm based in Washington, D.C.  Ms. Childress holds a Bachelor of Arts in Government and African American Studies from the University of Virginia and a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law.  Ms. Childress graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with High Distinction from the University of Virginia in 2007.  After law school, Ms. Childress served as a federal judicial law clerk for the Honorable Alexander Williams, Jr. in the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.  Ms. Childress has served as an associate at two global law firms and as an attorney for the United States Department of Justice. Ms. Childress represents clients in all aspects of employment law.  Ms. Childress has litigated retaliation, discrimination, sexual harassment, non-competition, trade secret, unfair labor practice, and whistleblower cases before various tribunals.  She serves clients in general business transactions with employees and independent contractors.  Ms. Childress drafts agreements such as employment agreements, consulting agreements, termination agreements, and confidentiality agreements.  She also routinely reviews employment handbooks and employee policies for compliance with federal, state, and local law. While in law school, Ms. Childress was an editorial board member for the Virginia Journal of Social Policy and the Law.  She was also an executive board member of the Student Bar Association. Additionally, while in law school, she served as a legal intern in the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia. She is an alumnus of the National Trial Advocacy College. Ms. Childress is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia and before the Supreme Court of the United States, United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, the United States District Court for the District of Maryland, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia. Ms. Childress has held leadership roles in the National Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division and the Washington Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division.  She has been the recipient of several honors, including the National Bar Association’s 40 under 40 Best Advocates Award, the Kim Keenan Leadership & Advocacy Award, the Greater Washington Area Chapter of the National Bar Association’s Rising Star award, and recognition by the National Black Lawyers as one of the top 100 black attorneys. Ms. Childress has been featured in numerous publications, including Forbes, Essence, the Huffington Post, Success, and Entrepreneur.

Amber K. Boyd is founder and sole practitioner of Amber Boyd Attorney at Law. Ms. Boyd represents and counsels clients in business and employment law. Her goal is to deliver effective, efficient and strategic service to her clients. In 2015, Ms. Boyd was one of 25 attorneys selected to participate in the Indiana State Bar Association’s Leadership Development Academy. Ms. Boyd earned her J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law in 2012, where she was an Equal Justice America Legal Services Fellow, President of the Black Law Student Association (BLSA) and member of the BLSA Mock Trial Team. While a member of the BLSA Mock Trial Team, Ms. Boyd led her team to a second place finish at the Mid-Atlantic Thurgood Marshall Mock Trial Competition and quarterfinals at the National Thurgood Marshall Competition.Ms. Boyd earned her B.A. in Political Science from Dillard University, magna cum laude, in 2009. At Dillard University Ms. Boyd became a member of the Pi Gamma Mu honor society and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and was named 2009 Best All-Around Student for the Division of Social Science.Ms. Boyd is admitted to practice law in the state of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern and Southern District of Indiana.

Job J. Milfort is a founding and managing partner of Prioleau, Milfort & Rivers, LLC.  He focuses his practice on Employment Law and Business Disputes.  Job primarily handles employment discrimination and retaliation claims; failure to pay minimum wage and overtime issues; and breach of contract cases. He also handles cases involving restrictive covenants, trade secret misappropriation, and partnership dissolutions. Since forming his own practice, Job has obtained favorable results for business owners and a variety of professionals including: Lawyers, Doctors, Dentists, Pilots, Scientists, Chief Executive Officers, Executive Vice Presidents, Directors, Regional and General Managers, Law Enforcement Officers, Educators, Administrators, Paralegals, Managers, Sales Representatives, hourly workers, and Federal employees. In addition to representing employees, Job has successfully assisted business owners in complying with minimum wage, overtime and other legal requirements.  He is regularly called upon to serve as Counsel for his clients in matters before the U.S. Department of Labor, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and other agencies.  

Our Founding Attorney, Carla D. Aikens, has a unique background in that most plaintiffs lawyers have either always been plaintiffs lawyers or formerly did insurance defense work, while Ms. Aikens has an in depth business background alongside experiences working for a Federal Court judge which have provided her with a unique knowledge of the court’s inner workings and how court decisions are made. This knowledge and experience makes her particularly well-suited to help plaintiffs achieve the most favorable outcome possible in their personal injury and business litigation cases, and also informs and supplements her ability to negotiate beneficial business deals in transactional work along with Mergers and Acquisitions. Additionally, when she was an infant, Ms. Aikens’ father was injured in an accident that left him wheelchair bound, so she has a very personal connection to helping clients with personal injury cases, a thorough understanding of the rehabilitation process, and a keen ability to empathize with just about every situation. Ms. Aikens attended The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania where she began developing her business knowledge through a concentration in management and marketing. As a college tennis player, she honed her discipline, ability to work through adversity, and dedication to achieving goals. She received her Juris Doctor from Georgetown University Law Center, where she was a national quarterfinalist in the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Competition. While at Georgetown, Ms. Aikens also founded a mentoring program for and taught a law class to DC.-area high schoolers. After graduating from law school, Ms. Aikens was offered an associate position in Philadelphia with a national firm with over a dozen offices around the country. However, when she was offered a prestigious federal court clerkship, she deferred the offer and jumped at the opportunity to broaden and round out her knowledge of the US. court system. Following her clerkship, she began work at the law firm’s Detroit office where she performed transactional work and did extensive work for the City of Detroit. When the opportunity arose with a top five international law firm, Ms. Aikens relocated to Chicago where she continued to expand her extensive business legal knowledge by providing transactional, M&A, and major corporate bankruptcy work. Ms. Aikens’ experiences have taken her everywhere from boardrooms to courtrooms to clients’ homes. After years of working for large law firms on major corporate cases, she chose to go out on her own and found her own firm because she is passionate about helping people of whom others have taken advantage. Her practice now focuses on defending victims of personal injuries, while also continuing to build on her substantial business law experience by providing litigation and transactional services for companies throughout the U.S. No matter the size of your claim or the nature of your case, she is dedicated to ensuring that every case she works on receives the same amount of care and attention, as well as the highest degree of integrity possible.

Christina Lutz is a partner in Levenfeld Pearlstein's Litigation Group, where she concentrates in commercial litigation. She has represented a variety of midsized business entities throughout the litigation process, from inception through trial and on appeal. The versatility and resourcefulness Christina has gained by litigating a wide array of matters has brought insight that spans across diverse industries and subjects. With her foundation in general litigation, Christina has extensive experience in local government, real estate, tort, insurance, and employment law, representing municipalities, condominium associations, national retailers, and business entities of all sizes. Throughout her practice, she works to develop close relationship with her clients, guide them through every step of the litigation process, continually evaluate their objectives, and team with them to obtain positive results.Prior to her legal career, Christina worked in television in New York and Los Angeles, and she applies the business acumen and pragmatism acquired in her entertainment career to her legal practice.

I practice in the areas of labor and employment and data privacy and security. I represent management-side clients in state and federal courts on a variety of employment matters. I also counsel clients on labor and employment issues, such as conducting internal investigations, employee policy revisions, and separation agreements. As a seasoned litigator with trial experience, I have handled a variety of other litigation matters, including contract disputes, financial services litigation, invasion of privacy, privacy class actions, and labor disputes. In the area of data privacy and security, I serve as privacy counsel to clients for preventative measures and incident response. I guide companies through data breaches and other cyber incidents, including crafting data breach notifications, interfacing with law enforcement and relevant regulators, counseling clients on insurance and vendor issues, and other mitigation efforts. I also assist clients' with drafting their privacy policies, terms of use, vendor agreements, and internal data security policies. As an added preventative service to my clients, I also conduct employee training on employment and data privacy issues. 

Tiffany M. Releford, Partner at Whiteford, Taylor & Preston and Co-Chair of its Community Associations group, focuses her practice on labor and employment law and community associations in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. In her labor practice, Ms. Releford represents large and small businesses, nonprofit associations, employers, community associations and individuals in matters involving discrimination based on disability, gender, sexual orientation, race, religion, and age. She has appeared before state courts, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, the D.C. Office of Human Rights, and the Prince George’s County Human Relations Commission. Ms. Releford has a background in human resources and provides general counseling to employers regarding separation and hiring issues, and disability and discrimination issues, including providing training on equal employment opportunity laws. Additionally, she represents local county agencies and has experience defending grievances and matters before the Merit System Protection Board. In addition, Ms. Releford routinely counsels community associations in covenant enforcement, revising and amending governing documents, transition from developer to owner control, warranty claims, and collection of delinquent assessments. Ms. Releford also defends community associations in fair housing complaints, breach of contract claims, environmental claims, personal injury and tort actions in state courts and before administrative bodies.

Lantis G. Roberts understands the perspective of employees when interacting with employers. Having been an employee for several years in both the private and federal government sectors, I know first hand that employees can face challenges that may hinder their ability to stand up for their legally entitled employment rights. Those experiences fueled my desire to practice law as a Labor & Employment Attorney. I am committed to help employees protect their rights against employers. I recognize that employers do not always act with bad intent, but the employer’s lack of understanding of the law may cause harm to the employee. My mission is to get justice for the employee and ensure that the employer learns from this experience. I spent many years as an Investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor where I was fortunate enough to protect the rights and benefits of many employees who were wronged by their employer. The majority of my practice is representation of employees to Fight against the employer; Fight against the Government on Civil Rights Violations; Fight against insurance companies on Personal Injury matters; and I represent employers to Defend them against investigations conducted by the U. S. Department of Labor. Our goal is to Recover what my clients are legally entitled to.

Rodney S. Diggs is a practiced litigator with substantial experience mediating disputes and trying cases to verdict in both federal and state courts. Rodney is Chair of the Labor & Employment practice group, which focuses on harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour issues. He represents employers ranging from public entities to Fortune 500 companies, as well as individual employees. He also handles civil rights litigation. Rodney’s significant achievements include settling a wrongful death lawsuit for $5.5 million and serving as lead counsel in Reginald Mitchell v. California Department of Public Health, which resulted in a published California Court of Appeal decision. Rodney became a Director at Ivie, McNeill & Wyatt in 2016. Prior to joining the firm in 2011, Rodney clerked for the Honorable Patti Jo McKay, Presiding Judge for the Appellate Division for the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Kevin Mahoney is the founding Principal of the Mahoney Law Group, APC. Prior to founding Mahoney Law Group, APC, Mr. Mahoney worked for a highly regarded Plaintiff's firm wherein he represented injured workers under the California Workers’ Compensation system. Currently, Mr. Mahoney specializes in wage and hour class actions, and more generally labor and employment litigation. Mr. Mahoney represents employees in both class claims and individual wage and hour disputes. Mr. Mahoney graduated from the University of Southern California (USC Trojans!) with a double major in Political Science and Philosophy (honors). He attended Howard University School of Law in Washington, DC. During the summer of both his first and second year of law school, Mr. Mahoney clerked at the Long Beach Superior Court reviewing Law and Motion matters. Mr. Mahoney also mediated small claims matters at the Long Beach Superior Court. Mr. Mahoney is admitted to the California State Bar, and is a member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Long Beach Bar Association, and the California Employment Law Association.
