Mincey is a Partner at Mincey Fitzpatrick Ross, LLC. Mr. Mincey has had a number of successes, focusing his practice on criminal defense and civil rights litigation while also handling catastrophic/personal injury litigation.  Mr. Mincey attended the Howard University School of Law in Washington D.C. and earned his Juris Doctorate in 2002.  He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) in 1999 where he studied Criminal Justice.  He graduated from UMES with the distinction magna cum laude.   Mr. Mincey began his career as a prosecutor with the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office where he served the community prosecuting hundreds of cases before leaving the office in 2005 to start his own firm.  Since 2005, Mr. Mincey has handled hundreds of matters in criminal and civil court in the Philadelphia area and other counties throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and in the United States District Court, Eastern, Middle, and Western Districts of Pennsylvania.  Additionally, he has appeared in the United States District Court of New Jersey, New Jersey State Court and the Southern District Courts of New York and Florida. Mr. Mincey is a Past Chair of the Philadelphia Bar Association Board of Governors.  He is a Past President of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia, Inc. and a Past Chair of the Advisory Board of the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia.  He currently serves on the board of the Pennsylvania Innocence Project, and he has previously served the Philadelphia Bar Association as the Special Advisor the Chancellor of the Philadelphia Bar Association, the Chair of the Diversity in the Profession Committee (2012-2015), Chair of the Criminal Justice Section, and as a member of the Judicial Selection and Retention Committee. His service also extends to the National Bar Association, where he previous served as the Region III Director and Deputy Director and as a member of the Judicial Selection Committee.  Mr. Mincey is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated. Mr. Mincey received the Barristers’ Association of Philadelphia’s Outstanding Young Lawyer award in 2017. In 2014, Mincey Fitzpatrick received the Pro Bono Award from the Philadelphia Bar Foundation in recognition of the founding and running of the Barristers’ Expungement Clinic from 2011 to 2014.  From 2011 to 2014 Mincey & Fitzpatrick donated over one million dollars in legal services during its operation of the Barristers’ Expungement Clinic.

I knew I wanted to be a trial attorney when I saw Blair Underwood and Jimmy Smits on L.A. Law.  I have had over 30 jury trials working for the City of New York, an insurance defense firm and the Oregon Department of Justice.  Performing in front of a jury is one of the most satisfying experiences I’ve ever had—win or lose.  I think I am an actor at my core.  Odd because I am also a cinephile:  I love movies by Clint Eastwood, Akira Kurosawa, Antoine Fuqua and John Woo.  I sympathize with the tortured hero and the lost cause. I am a devout capitalist; hate bullies; root for the underdog; and believe in the system.  Reasons why I became the first Director of Civil Rights for the Oregon Attorney General.  Before moving to Oregon, I drafted judicial opinions as a Principal Law Clerk for a New York State Supreme Court Justice.  I started my legal career as a litigation associate at Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, after graduating from law school.  I now have a general practice law firm, HARMON JOHNSON LLC, that focuses on discrimination, civil rights violations and wage theft. I also love teaching.  Several women in my family were teachers and professors.  This inspired me to be an adjunct professor, and a high school and college trial advocacy Coach.  I have also taught trial skills to attorneys from across the country as a National Attorney General Training and Research Institute faculty member.  I am a Libra.  And I love to cook, write and do home improvements in my spare time.  I have sworn off Starbucks, Waffle House, and Hobby Lobby to name a few.  I also refuse to watch anything NFL—games, highlights, updates, documentaries, etc.—until Colin Kaepernick gets at least a try-out.

Elaine L. Thompson has been practicing law since 1989. She began her legal career working as an Assistant Attorney General in the Criminal Appeals Division of the Florida Attorney General's Office in Tampa. Over the next ten years, Ms. Thompson continued to develop her legal skills and knowledge while working in the Employment Discrimination Section and the Office of Civil Rights where she represented the State, State agencies, and State employees in appellate, trial, and federal habeas corpus proceedings. After honing her craft with the Florida Attorney General's Office, attorney Thompson worked in private practice representing parties in workers compensation matters, criminal appeals, civil appeals, civil litigation, and family appeals. Ms. Thompson worked briefly at the Fulton County District Attorney's Office. Upon her return to Florida, she worked at a private law firm which handled cases involving medical malpractice, personal injury, and limited appeals. From there she joined the Office of the Public Defender in Tampa where she served as a supervisor of the Appellate Division, represented clients in Baker Act proceedings, and handled post-conviction matters. After practicing law for more than twenty-five years, Ms. Thompson decided to focus her practice on the most rewarding work she performs as a lawyer - appellate cases. Having attended law school because of her interest in constitutional law, she continues to pursue work related to constitutional claims, civil liberties, disability rights, education rights, and individual property rights. In addition to appeals, Ms. Thompson provides litigation support to trial lawyers.

  Experienced in all areas of complex civil litigation, Donte recently recovered a large award for the family of a man who died while in the custody of the New York City Police Department. Many other verdicts of Donte’s have been featured in the New York Law Journal, as well as in other publications, including a million dollar award for a mother who witnessed her child being struck and killed by a car.
